Bio

Blessed with an artist’s eye, Mae has been songwriting for over thirty-five years. Steeped in the musical landscape of Southern Ontario in the 1970’s, Mae caught the folk fever after spending hours immersed in the musical concerts of Colleen Peterson, David Essig, Stan Rogers and many more, It wasn’t until when Mae moved to Vancouver in 1979, that she began to take her music seriously. Her first big was having her songwriting skills recognized by CBS (Sony) which lead to her debut recording in 1990, Oceanview Motel. This success was followed by her album Bohemia, an international hit in 1992, and Dragonfly in 1995. With two Juno nominations, two SOCAN awards and many chart successes, Mae has forged a career sharing the stage with such folk/roots luminaries as John Hiatt, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Richard Thompson and more. When not touring, Mae is an eco farmer, and an environmentalist of the first degree. To minimize her personal carbon footprint she gave up flying five years ago. She has opted for that very Canadian mode, the train, and took a solo acoustic train tour across Canada in March 2011 in support of her latest release. Folklore is a bountiful harvest, rich in colour and texture and substance, that harkens back to a time when an album was listened to, not for it’s ‘singles’, but as a concept in it’s wholeness. Accompanying this highly anticipated release is a companion art book, with MP3 download access to the entire album, a bonus track and full colour plates of Mae’s artwork. Mae is a 21st century renaissance Canadian woman whose music goes right to the heart of the matter. Canada is indeed blessed to have Mae Moore to sing her abundant praises.
