Bio

On their independent debut album, "City Of Grey", The Savannah Leigh Band creates a mood reflective of their west-coast home of Vancouver. The music captures the beauty of a rainy afternoon; contemplative, yet full of life. Acoustic guitars (Diego Zaragoza), stand up bass (Adam Jones) and drums (Brendan Krieg) create the heart of sound, which is ornamented with touches of organ, cello, lap steel and pedal steel guitars, along with an assortment of percussion. Savannah's vocals dip from sweet highs to sultry lows, with an emotion that's honest without being forced. The music's not easy to define, though their combination of folk roots with catchy pop arrangements has lead to comparisons with Feist and KT Tunstall. The album was produced by Vancouver artist Winston, and recorded at the legendary Mushroom studios. There they utilized vintage gear, antique guitars, and analog tape to create a warm, intimate sounding album. The band's stellar musicianship and soulful delivery shine through in their live performances, which has lead to sharing the stage with some of Vancouver's finest up-and-coming indie acts, including Dustin Bentall, Cameron Latimer, The Great Outdoors, Kent McAlister, Headwater, Tariq, and Language Arts. Since the release of "City of Grey", the band has been a featured artist on CBC Radio 3's New Music Canada Page, been added to several online streaming radio stations, will be included on the One Cool Word Compilation CD. Currently, the Savannah Leigh Band is pushing forward with their DIY approach, planning a fall tour and actively promoting the album online, as they continue to create music worth listening to.
