Bio
Guelph Mercury calls her a “revelation”. The Globe & Mail states she has "a magical way with song" and included her as one of "Five must-see songstresses" at NXNE 2010. KARYN ELLIS creates music that is "twangy and cool and unpredictable... difficult to classify and impossible to resist." (Indie-music.com) “This is a woman with stories.” (Calgary Herald) Shortlisted for the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award in 2009 and 2010 and awarded an Honourable Mention in the 2010 Island Mountain Songwriting Contest (BC), Karyn Ellis' folk-based pop songs are beautiful and sad, uplifting and quirky; she maps out the bittersweet trajectories of relationships with a distinctively sweet voice, unique guitar style and gentle sense of humour. Karyn has toured Canada several times playing concert series and festivals such as the Homeroutes Livingroom Concert Series (Alberta/Saskatchewan), Artswells (Wells BC), Peterborough Folk Festival (Peterborough ON) and New Wave Festival (in conjunction with Luminato, Toronto ON) to name a few. Her fanbase is steadily growing, and with every performance she endears herself to audiences with her unmistakable voice, her firecracker performances and her genuinely witty stories.
